Access to extended hours services outside of routine GP practice core hours can be arranged by calling 111. NHS 111 will assess each patient’s needs and pass the case on to the STAR service where appropriate.

The patient will either be offered a call back with one of our GPs or an advanced nurse practitioner or alternatively will be given a directly booked appointment at one of our four GP hubs.

Home visits

For the safety of patients, home visits cannot be arranged via GP practices and are often generated via 111, care homes and community nursing teams during operational hours.

A patient may contact 111 during operational hours for an assessment; the GP will assess the patient and where necessary arrange a home visit. Each visit is prioritised by disposition 1 hour, 2 hour or 6 hours.

Care homes and district nursing staff are able to contact the STAR service directly during operational hours to request a GP assessment.

Need an appointment? Book via your GP surgery or, if it is out of hours, call 111. You can also book an appointment via your GP website 48 hours in advance.
